Individual Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on the relationship between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and it is an evidenced-based treatment for reducing symptoms of anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and depression. I use CBT in my clinical work to help my clients modify unhelpful beliefs and behaviors using techniques such as exposure therapy, exposure and response prevention (ERP), social skills training, and behavioral activation.

I am a certified clinician with the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a skills-focused treatment, which I use to teach my clients concrete life skills in four important areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT is an evidence-based treatment for reducing self-injurious behaviors, impulsivity, emotional dysregulation, chronic feelings of emptiness, and relational problems. I have attended DBT trainings worldwide, collaborated closely with leaders in the field, and designed DBT programs for institutions.

Experiential therapies

Experiential therapies include hands-on and immersive experiences such as emotional processing, art, acting, and reflections of events that go beyond traditional “talk therapy.” I have attended trainings in Psychodrama and IFS, and I have witnessed the tremendous healing impact that these approaches have on my clients.

Couples & Family Therapy

I am especially passionate and experienced in working with couples and families. I have been trained in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based treatment that helps couples feel more connected and overcome a range of issues, including insecurity, jealousy, and arguing as well as heal from significant relationship ruptures such as infidelity.

Drawing from EFT and other systems approaches, I am a creative family therapist with several success stories of uniting family members and improving their communication.

Supervision & Training

I provide clinical supervision to therapists who want to grow in the fields of CBT and DBT as well as to those who want to improve their skills in working with couples and families. As a certified CBT therapist, I help clinicians learn how to provide exposure, ERP, and behavioral activation treatments to support their clients in making fast progress. I also work with therapists who wish to bring more creativity and inspiration into their clinical work.

Over the last decade, I have provided numerous trainings to mental health clinics and university campuses. Some of the topics I regularly teach include: CBT for generalized anxiety disorder, Evidence-based treatments for depression, LGBTQIA+ affirmative care, and How to provide clinical supervision, among others.

Last, I help mental health practices design and run DBT programs.

My therapy is supportive and affirming to members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

What is affirmative therapy?

An affirmative therapist:

  • provides a safe space where queer clients can be their true selves.

  • holds an unconditionally positive regard toward and celebrates LGBTQIA+ identities.

  • follows a developmental model of therapy and supports LGBTQIA+ clients in reaching important milestones (e.g., self-acceptance, coming out).

  • supports clients in establishing healthy relationships and highlights the importance of connectedness.

  • is aware of the clients’ intersection of identities and the clients’ social justice needs.
